Come and See!

Come and See! events are held on Saturdays from 8:45 am to 3:00 pm. Designed for single Catholic women ages 17 – 30, the events are held in Corpus Christi at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament, the IWBS convent in Brownsville or the IWBS residence in Edinburg.

A Come and See! event is an occasion for women to visit, to pray, to reflect with the IWBS Sisters. It is an opportunity to learn skills for discernment. The basis for the reflection is the question, “How do I know if God is calling me to religious life?” Please refer to the IWBS Vocation Calendar for the Come and See! dates.

Vocation Discernment Retreat

Friday, March 30, 2012 - Sunday, April 1, 2012
A weekend Vocation Discernment Retreat will be held in Corpus Christi at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament. It begins on Friday, March 30, 2012 with supper at 6:00 pm. The retreat concludes after lunch on Sunday, April 1.

The discernment retreat offers a young woman time to look at the possibility of a vocation to consecrated life. Participants are invited to spend a weekend with their God, themselves, and others who are also on the journey. They are asked to explore what is most important to them and to consider how they listen to the gifts of the Holy Spirit in themselves. They are encouraged to be open to hearing God’s voice in their heart by identifying what attracts them to an interior life, generative service, and community interaction. By contemplating on God’s creative Spirit in their lives, they are strengthened to move forward on their discernment journey.

Opportunities for the celebration of the Eucharist, adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, prayer and reflection with the Sisters are provided. Sharing stories, questions, insights, and experiences with others assists them on their faith journey and deepens their spirituality. The bond that is formed is a source of strength and support for on-going discernment.
