The Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament have taken a corporate stance against the use of the death penalty in all situations and under all circumstances. The Sisters voted at the General Chapter of 2000 to take this stance. It was promulgated on October 14, 2000 by the community during a Prayer Service. All sisters present signed the statement. It was then taken by Sister Irma Gonzalez, Superior General, to the various residences of the sisters so that those unable to attend the Prayer Service could sign. The statement will be framed and placed in a prominent place at the Motherhouse. A copy of the signed statement will be given to each residence.
