Sister Beatrice Cruz, Sister William Francis Garcia, Sister Martha O'Gara Mark Golden Jubilee Three Sisters in their fiftieth year of vowed life celebrated their Golden Jubilee. Sisters Beatrice Cruz, William Francis Garcia, and Martha O'Gara joined by the three Sisters marking seventy years were honored by the Congregation on Saturday, April 21. The Mass of Thanksgiving at St. Patrick Church was followed by a reception at the James R. Dougherty Center on the IWA campus. Sister Martha O'Gara came to Texas from County Sligo, Ireland, in July, 1949, to begin formation. Sister Beatrice had entered in May of that year, and Sister William Francis joined them in December. They made first profession of vows in 1951, and celebrated their Silver Jubilee on May 1, 1976 with two other Sisters in their group, now deceased: Sisters Kathleen Kehoe and Mary Joseph Cavanaugh. |
